How many drain & fills until it's red again? Drain for me is TWO quarts (not 3 or 4)

How are your rear brakes? My XJ clunks into gear a little bit too, and it is lessened when I have the parking brake on. When I back out of my driveway or a parking spot, I usually shift into reverse first and then take the parking brake off. Then when I back up and shift into drive, I've noticed that if I really stomp on the brakes I get less of a clunk and it doesn't lunge forward as much. A brake job is on my short list of repairs.

To check the slip yoke, you need to take it apart like this?
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/g...ite-up-357569/

Or, do you use a grease gun to inject grease? This write-up doesn't really help beyond that
http://www.ehow.com/how_6901727_do-g...lip-yoke_.html

How do you check the u-joint?
How do you grease a u-joint?
Or do you just replace the u-joint?

If I conclude this is too complex for my ability level, and take it to a mechanic,
I can tell him to replace the u-joint and grease the slip yoke at the same time?
They can both be done together? These are common maint. items, correct?

Oh crap, no body take that seriously lol.

How about... YOU do that and drink the fluid so you don't make another post like that. That's a terrible idea lol

It's hard to describe. Almost like when it finally hits 0mph, it something slips.
Like the wheels are sliding into a notch or something.
Do you still have drum brakes? Swap to disc's & it will quit, or at least mine did.

Just do a AX-15 swap & call it done.

The correct way to do that is to remove both lines from the trans cooler. Place the suction line into a large, clean glass jar you keep filled with fluid as it is drawn out, the other into a waste bucket.

I have now done 4 drain and fills.
There was finally a hint of red, but the fluid is still 95% black.

I am going to leave this alone for a while.
I might do 4 more drain and fills a few months from now.

Drove it a few miles.
Did a drain and fill each time I ran an errand in the XJ.
