My jeep is a clunker. It's not really worth putting money into it. Its been airborn, front diff hit the block, rear diff hit the inner wheelhouse, destroyed all fuel wiring, front diff is bent causing neg. camber and DW. but steering stabilizers rock and i made a pull on a frame machine to help. Floors are flinstoned. I just cut the cat out to scrap and buy parts.

Its going to be a hit or miss. Maybe its a good running XJ built on thursday or something. Dont know. previous owner ran nothing but royal purple.

oil pressure is above half at idle hot. Runs amazing. i run mobil 1 with a mopar filter. 3rd gears a little notchy. Previous owner claims he wrapped speedo around past 85 back to the pin by 5. on stock tires. If I make a pass, the shot stock leaf springs bent from jumping it, band aided with add a leaf and blocks, will tear the rear right out of the rig on a rwd good launch.

Its gotta be in 4 HI ill break something with tractioon in 2wd. Maybe at the 60 foot i can slam the 4x4 shifter down between gear changes its only one notch. i just wont powershift that gear change thats all. It will help for a good trap speed. is that humanly possible? One hand shiftin one hand 4x4 disengagin in a split second fashion while clutchin It might be possible.

this started out as a joke but its getting serious. I really might try and run my girl's 302. I'll probably whoop her *** at the tree with a good launch and a prayer on the NP231. Maybe ill fill T/C with some Lucas trans additive make it a little thicker in there to disperse the clutch drop at 4 grand in 4x4. I doubt ill have issues w traction with 255 45 17s

I find it hard to believe you can take a 5.0 mustang off the line on anything close to pavement.

Convert to 2WD

Sell your 4WD components to buy a locker and good rear tires.

it's an sn95. http://media.photobucket.com/image/r...obra_042_2.jpg

this exact car. New paint and all. Its got a detuned fox motor. 205hp. With intake, shortys, xpipe, no cats slp loudmouths , shift kit, tci sat. night special converter, alto clutches, a chip, 14 degrees timing, and 3.55s with 275 35s out back, 9mm wires. and fresh plugs.

MAYBE a 14 second car. Prob a 15. Maybe I will leave the spare in her car and her sub box. Gf is driving. I race all the time, I'm quick on the tree. She may be sleeping. Shes foot braking. Im dumping the clutch in 4x4. I got her out of the hole. and im powershifting. its the trap speed I gotta worry about, and possibly disengaging 4x4...somehow.

It does have 160K on motor.

Its probably 170whp if that...automatic and high mileage. feels quick. shift kit chirps 1-2 gear.

But its even heavier than my jeep is. Plus if i strip my car of nothing but a driver seat. no spare nothing. now 315 35s and 255s up front. Ill check mustang wheel fitment tonight.

Might run too lean with mods. and risk a broken TC and rear strap clamps. Maybe ill weld u joint to yoke...but thats just wrong IMO.

If it's in that bad of shape... I wouldn't be racing it in the 1/4 mile if I where you...

I kinda agree.

And I really don't see the point in trying all this. Are you at least doing the racing on a real track?

No kidding.

Sell your jeep, buy a civic, race the mustang. You can't have a "DD" that's as neglected as you describe it and expect to dump the clutch in 4wd and "powershift".

No doubt if you strip all the weight out and put 100 shot on anything it will be pretty fast!

4th gen camaros are pretty heavy... I should know since I own one.

lol. silly.

Car on the left is the car I'm racing It's my girl's car I just finished putting together.

MY DAILY DRIVER IS ON THE RIGHT. its a 93 5.0 stock. Not shown is my strip car.

the rattle canned rig, when i sold it.

srt4 tool couldnt handle all the issues, so he spent 2 grand on repairs, and gave it back for half what i sold it for. Pretty much installed new oil pan, gasket, all new pads rotors, shoes and hardware front and back, new brake lines, new shocks, shampood interior, new rad air horns, and took chicks off the back window cuz of his gf. sold it back when he couldnt figure out a simple fuel line issue. sold for 1400. bought back for 800 a month later

btw that video is badass. Stripping interior like that. Plus all the seats except mine, seatbelts, waterpump fan, hitch, Rusted floors, ac crap, washer bottle, crank windows, 2 doors no carpets, Theres almost 200 lbs.

Its not my daily. Stop bashin. This jeep flies. Its been airborn so high the air bag deployed. Thats from the previous owner. There isn't a spare because doing 60 in the woods and hitting a hole, it shattered the RF wheel. And then daily driven for 2 years. With just trips he made to the junkyard when needed when things broke. Its a jeep. Its meant to be abused. If it breaks, ill fix it. No need to bash.

If things hold up, and i can 4x4 4x2 shift. I'll put a 50 shot. Maybe 75. That jeep in the vid must be sprayin 150. Thats insanity.

So no pun intended for the off road guys, I just happen to enjoy going fast. Its a rush doing 50 through woods flying over stuff and sliding corners. More than a 1mph rock crawl but thats my opinion. To each and their own. Crawlin, roadin, swampin or racin, we all love XJ's

That is not at all how the EVO and STI guys do it; if they know what they are doing. The best way to launch an AWD car is to slip the clutch excessively. If you just dump it, and don't have enough power to burn throughout the gear, it'll just settle and bog. My old roommate had a decently modified EVO VIII and his fastest ET's resulted from a Kevlar clutch and careful slip control so that it wouldn't bog and wouldn't explode his center diff.

All of this is irrelevant. You don't make NEAR enough power to really need 4wd. You would do much better to remove those components, for the weight savings, and beef up the rear u-joint straps.

I've got a 430whp 240sx that I can keep under control in a launch. You shouldn't have any problem with an old XJ....
