How do I check for ignition codes when no cehck engine light? 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 Having trouble starting, no check engine light

Does your check engine light flash when you are starting the Jeep? In other words, when you turn the key to "on" does the light light up for a second and then go off?
If so, you almost certainly don't have any codes stored.

There are higher end ODB2 scanners that can tell you what "pending codes" (stuff that is not quite bad enough to trigger a code, but isn't working perfectly).

What I would recommend is posting in the Grand Cherokee forum (this is the XJ aka Regular cherokee forum).
When you do, describe your problem in detail - what's happening, when it happens, if you had anything recently that might be related (new parts, work done, etc).
Include the engine info and transmission.
