I've heard of good/bad depending on mileage (or well kept engine). I've heard of low mileage/well kept engines benefiting from this but on the flip side,...a high mileage/poor maintained engine,...getting worse because it loosened up everything. Seafoam does help get rid of moisture quite well as opposed to those "on sale" products. It isn't thick either.
I thought about it but decided that I diddnt need to because it was running smooth

Id say lazy lifters... Mine does it on really cold mornings. Little tap of the throttle after a minute usually stops it, or going 1/4mi down the road.

Please for the love of baby jeezus don't use Lucas oil stabilizer ! Have you seen what it does on the inside of an engine? They made a video and a short and simple is that it foams your oil up and stays foamed for hours after u let it sit, your normal anti foaming agents in your oil can't keep up, or ifnot you like foamy oil go for it lol

I agree. You dont need any of that garbage in your oil.

The cold Lucas (38 degrees) could be clogging up your hydraulic valve lifters and whatnot. Let it warm up good, see if the knocking goes away. If not, put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and take her for a spin, warm her up hot, then drop the oil again, replace it with 10W-40, replace the filter and ix-nay on the Lucas. That's my advice.

Umm ok maybe its just me. But doesn't the 4.0 take 6qrts? I've always ran 6qrts from the start..I now run 6.5qrts after the big oil filter upgrade mod thing. I run 5W40 Rotella. I run the extra .5qrt because I have a huge oil filter. Doesn't burn a drop either.
My guess is that sound in the video is probably the mech. fan. Mine sounded very similar, turned out 1 blade was bent ever so slightly. And yes it also sounds like its missing on 1 cyl. When you drive it does it have a very slight sputter?

I left my 5cyl spark plug off after a tune up one time. Drove for 2 or 3 days before I figured out what was wrong, sounded exactly like that.

yes it takes 6qts, i used 5 oil, 1 lucas, it does sputter a tad, i'll be doing plugs, wires cap and rotor this weekend, so i'll be checking plugs then, im not using it as a dd yet so its not a huge deal, it dark by the time i get home from work, so i only work on it over the weekends, i wanna get rid of the mech fan anyway... i'll update sat or sunday

oh and the knock from the original post is gone, i think it was just to cold for the thick oil mix, or it didnt get to fully cycle after my change...

Premium quality cap and rotor with brass, not aluminum, contacts? Good wires like the ones Napa sells? Champion copper or NGK plugs?
