My 00 z71 had a tick like a bad lifter . I used lucas and it got worse. Traded it off after that. Ive seen lucas work some miracles and Ive seen it make stuff worse. I knew a dude that had a wrist pin knocking in a F150 that had the 5.0 and when he put lucas in it would stop.

The knock is probably coincidental and nothing to do with the oil change......cheet happens......and it does have 181K miles and is 24 years old.

Lucas is basically a thickening agent. By using it in a lighter weight oil you've negated any of the increased flow you gained by using a lighter weight oil for winter time.

no vid cause no knock.... to warm out i guess, it was pretty cold the other night, so i guess my oil is to thick for winter. im just confused because i have used that 5:1 combo in previous years, i guess my tolerances have changed a little.... so now what?

On another forum for another type vehicle, it is suggested to "annually" use a bottle of seafoam in the tank, and also 1/2 bottle for an intake ingestion and the other 1/2 in the crankcase,...after 500-1000 miles, change the oil using all oil. I've heard of good/bad depending on mileage (or well kept engine). I've heard of low mileage/well kept engines benefiting from this but on the flip side,...a high mileage/poor maintained engine,...getting worse because it loosened up everything. Seafoam does help get rid of moisture quite well as opposed to those "on sale" products. It isn't thick either.
