How do you figure lift?

Is there a way to calculate how much lift an xj has over stock? I never measured the ride height before the lift and stock height may vary due to the condition of the springs, so I was wondering if there is a spot to measure that will tell you how much lift you have over stock.

Yep measure from the center of the rim to the bottom of the fender flair. Stock front is 17.5" rear 17"..

Be aware the axle centerline measurement works for stock flares only. Also some state inspections use different measurements. One is from level ground to the bottom of the door sill (not the door itself). The OE height on XJ’s is 21” for model years 84 through 88. It was lowered to 20" for 89 through 01 models.
