how do i regasket my diff cover?
scrape off all old gasket material clean
from there you can either go buy a replacement gasket and some rtv from the auto parts store or just a good coating of black rtv on each side to seal it up good.

I prefer to use ultra copper RTV. Make sure its clean and lies flat aginst a flat surface. Only suggesting so, because if you pryed it off you chance bending it some.

Just did our '98 Cherokee with the Chrysler 8.25" rear diff. New FelPro gasket ($4) and VersaChem Ultra Copper RTV on both sides of gasket. No drips, no runs, no errors........zero, zip, nada. Takes about 2.5 qts gear oil to re-fill.

I have a 1996 and I also just did my 8.25" and spent $5.34 on a gasket and it doesn't leak at all. I didn't even use any RTV. If you're in a hurry use the RTV, but if you've got time, get the gasket, it's quick and simple.
I used red on the front when I did it.
Bought some black at Kmart for the rear.....long story short I have gasket and red rtv on the front
the rear is just going to be a bead of black rtv .. kind of comparing the two for my own curiosity.
