...get to the back of the radio? Antennae wire is hanging inside about 8 inches from the antenna. No radio cord to be seen, though I thought most plugged directly to the radio. Mistakenly thought that I could get to it from the bottom, even removed the bottom dash piece, but everything's tight against the firewall. Any help would be appreciated. (and I did a search and come up with nada.) Thanks.
Is your radio stock? My 2000 has 2-phillips head screws attaching the radio to the dash, (once the dash center panel is removed). It sounds like someone was in there if the wire is hanging. Can you post a pic? Check ou this link:

Look at this thread, shows a pic of the connection mentioned above ^

To get to the back of the radio you will have to pull it out. It is mounted in a fairly small box with no other access. Like you said everything's pretty tight to the firewall

If it's the same as my 2000, it's a piece of cake.
That plastic trim that goes around the heater controls, center vents and radio... well, grab hold of the bottom of it, and pull. It will come right off, no problem at all.
Then, take your phillips head screw driver or 8mm socket and remove the two screws holding the radio in.
Then, grab hold of the radio and gently pull until it comes out.
That's it!

The 1996's are different, follow the instructions below. If you attempt to pull the trim off, you will break it, you need to remove some screws first.

Thanks for the info. Always good to have a good working knowledge of the thing you're about to do. I break enough stuff without wanting to do it on purpose!
