Another Frame Stiffener Thread
So I am in the process of replacing my floors with new 16ga steel. I want to reinforce (and repair) the unibody channels and of course have a few options. Do I....
Buy a prefab, and which one? I am leaning towards ruffstuff because of the pre drilled rosettes, I would cut the leading 9" off since I am not doing LCA mounts now. Otherwise TNT is a bit cheaper, but I would have to drill rosettes and don't have the 1" floorboard length.
OR
Buy 3x3x3/16 angle iron and DIY it. I am thinking 3 sections, front, angle, rear, weld the joint at the angle and cut it to run the extra distance by the leaf mount. Much cheaper but I am worried about the strength at the channel bend.
OR
Craigslist score 4x4x1/4 angle iron, same as above but thicker and heavier. BUT it's even cheaper.
