Default how to check and possibly change tranny fluid AX-15

1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 5 speed, AX-15 I believe?

At work, Jeep just started to make a horrible grinding noise in all gears. Going to try and make it to the local parts store about 3 miles away and check, fill or maybe even drain fill the fluid.

I need to know how to check this on my manual transmission... what tools I need to get the bolts in/out and where to look etc...

help! lol

yesterday, ac compressor and belt... today, tranmission ****s out possibly... i need a tall

You will need a 15/16 socket. The fill plug is on the driver side toward the top of the trans and the drain plug is on the passenger side, lower on the trans. Here is an article that might help you, although i believe this vehicle is a wrangler.

Sorry to hear about the belt and a/c going out on ya. Trouble always come in threes.

ax15 tranny requires gl3 rated gear oil such as redline MTL 80w90 if they put regular gear oil in tranny gl4 rated gear will cause damage to your tranny. Regular gear oil contains sulphur and will attack the brass syncros in your tranny.I learned this the hard way.
