How to check how many miles on odo when off car??

Default How to check how many miles on odo when off car??

Im looking to buy a gauge cluster for my 1998. I have the standard cluster with no Tack, etc.. Before buyinjg one i found on craigslist i would like to check how many miles are on it before purchasing.

Is it pulled already?

If not
You can do it a few different ways.
If it has a battery in it then your good.
If no battery you can carry bulky battery and jumper cables and see that way.

Another option is to carry a small 12 volt drill battery make you some small leads to attach to the small terminals. (works best on a battery you know which is positive and negative.)

Ask the seller.

If it is pulled you can do the same method basically you will just need to figure out which wires are positive and negative on the wiring harness of the cluster.

Yah the cluster is pulled out of the car. do you or anyone else know where the positive and negative on the cluster are??
The seller bought the thing off someone on here and claims the miles are around 150xxx but isnt certain

Pull yours,drive over to the seller & install that one.

It takes 5 min. to pull it.

Here's the cluster pinouts for a full gauge instrument cluster. Remember that the connectors you are looking at are the connectors on the dash, not the cluster. You'll probably want C1, pin 6 (ground) and pin 9 (12 volts).
