How Can i Fix this? Can i buy a new?
Thats my shifter for my 1999 cherokee classic. i don't think it should just fall off like that.

When you push the button, there is a piece with an angle that slides over and pushes down on the piece inside the shifters shaft. Same thing happened to my 87. Just ditched the handle and pushed down on the plastic piece in the shaft to shift. I think there is some sort of pin or lock ring you remove to pull the handle off.

you might have a broken piece of plastic in the hole in the shifter handle.
it helps hold it on the shifter.
yes, they do just pull on and push off. no clips or anything.
and don't use glue, you'll never get it to work properly and just make a mess of things.
go dig one up at a junk yard. you can even use one from a zj.
