I bent my front diff housing on my race XJ last weekend. Now I went to the junk yard and got what I believe is a d30 off of a grand cherokee. I'm going to truss this one so it won't bend. My question is this tho; how can I tell what year of jeep this new housing come off of? I'm adding the gears and I need to know what year to order the right bearings cause apparently the cherokee and grand cherokee have a different bearing set up.

 

It's a low pinion housing if it's from a GC. Is there a tag on the diff cover?

 

It looks high pinion.

Yep that's a HP axle housing. Any numbers on the diff?

 

It may not be from a gc. They had it ready for me wen I got there.

 

Only thing I see is a 2333

 

Here's the only numbers I see.

 

What's the name of the inner pinion bearing that goes inside the diff? Not the one that goes around the actual pinion shaft.
