Default Hot tranny, no signs on overheating on guages

Hey all,

Lately, if not for the past couple months, i seem to be getting A LOT of heat coming off from the tranny area just under the shifter console. I mean it gets so hot that I cant even press the gas pedal because my leg is about to burn...what could this mean?? I think i may have a bad tranny cooler and no coolant is going to the tranny?

I have a 95 4 door, with the aw4 and np231, 33's tires. The engine is not overheating, and the guages show that temps are normal all around(except for the oil pressure guage but thats always been a lil unfaithful)

Any suggestions?

Under the carpet there is heat sheilding. This keeps the heat down in the cab that comes from the transmission tunnel. During the summer months sense it's so much hotter out, you will notice more heat coming from there. Mine's the same way. Nothing to really worry about unless you notice a change in the way the transmission shifts or if you notice it slipping.

Seems somewhat normal but i have never heard of it becoming that hot to burn your leg through the floor boards.... My buddy has a buggy automatic w/ a small block chevy after beating on it all day no Trans tunnel it is not even that hot. I would mount a cheapy external cooler on it and call it a day. Should be ok as long as it is not slipping or acting differently.

Mine gets pretty hot. On a long drive (hour plus) on a hot day (90 degrees plus) I cant keep my right heel on the floor cause its so warm. I have an external tranny cooler from the factory.

Also, a buddy of mine (99Classic on here), runs without a carpet and his is just as warn on a hot day. I wouldn't be too concernded about it unless you notice any performace changes like I stated in my first post.
