Hot head light switch

So my headlight switch is hot. The whole freakin thing gets hot! WTF should I do?

I had that happen but with my fan switch on a Van I had. Got so freak'n hot you couldn't touch it!

I had a short in the power line to the unit. So I would try checking there first.

Yeah sounds like a short, or a bad/loose ground at the switch. JMO

Couldbe as simple as the reastat in the **** that controls the interior dash light dimming, they get pretty hot from absorbing the extra energy to make the lights dim

I'd swap that out and soon, dont want overheating electrical components.

my friend's 89 headlight switch melted, then the replacement got melty, and was drawing alot- turns out she installed some speakers in the hatch and reconnected a loose wire (license plate light) witch was shorted- she unhooked that.

sooo. the headlight switch runs the hatch, in addition to the tail lamps.
