My 89 XJ runs a tad hot. I have an extra sized water pump on it, I just changed out the tub, thermostat 160 Deg, and the water outlet and it has topped out at about 195 Deg. Is there any thing I can do, to help it run colder. While I am driving it lowers to under 180 but it gets hot down here in souther cali.

you may consider switching to a closed cooling system seen here.

210 is pretty much the standard running temp.

are you experiencing any problems?

if you are running at 195 you are fine. most of us run at 210.

thats odd, i have been well over 210 without problems. I would say as long as you dont find yourself going much over 210 you will be fine.

That high flow water pump helps with cooling a lot, i will be getting one in the next 20k miles.

your xj runs cold!

my last xj touched the red zone quite often, no problems. my current xj runs colder than i would like it to. about 190, touches 200 on occasion.

stock water pump> gimmick water pump

friend of mine bought one that claimed "25% GREATER COOLING" and whatnot. put it in. noticed nothing.

i do know of "high flow" water pumps, and many people out here who run them achieve less then 200* temps.

I got a 2.8, I'm lucky in the sense I can't get it over 150.
