Eliminates the crappy pressurized coolant bottle and troublesome heater control valve.

I just replaced the heater hoses on my 90 and I can tell you that the upper port for the heater core is a little larger diameter than 5/8" hose and a pain to force the 5/8" hose on. It appears your hoses are form fitted so as long as one of them has a larger I.D., you should be fine.

After seeing this, I think I might upgrade to the newer hoses and delete the heater valve since mine's already been converted to an open system. Thanks for the tips.

Looks great.

What are the part numbers? I'm putting together a basic parts list.

You will need a hose splice up near the water pump as the later hose isn't as long as the original. Get me that part number also please, as I just used one I had in my shop....

The heater control valve I can understand wanting to replace or eliminate and that can be done with a pipe nipple. As for removing one tank that's atmospheric to replace it with another tank that's atmospheric and replacing the fill spout with an aftermarket one. I still don't get what the gain is. All I see is that money was spent on equipment that was not needed. If a cooling system hose needs replacing that I can see being replaced.

The original bottle is not atmospheric pressure. It's cooling system pressure and prone to failure. That's why you don't understand.

All my heater hoses need replacing anyway, and I believe simpler is better. This process will remove three failure-prone components (pressurized coolant reservoir, it's cap, heater control valve), along with several hose connections and hoses.

Curious, what coolant reservoir is being used in your converted cooling system?

Went with a formed elbow to splice on in the front. It's a Dayco part. See photo for part#. Hose connector also shown.

Thanks, just following instructions. Now to source the reservoir. You get that part # yet? How about a photo of the reservoir you used?
