horrible squeal/power steering loss
Hello everybody,
I'm new to the forum, so I apologize if this topic has been covered.
Here is my problem...I Have a 95' Jeep Cherokee 4.0L 4X4 Manual. I started my jeep up the other day, and it started squealing very loudly. I turned the AC off, and it still squealed. In addition, there was no power steering, and smoke start coming out from under hood. I seems to me, that somehow the power steering pulley/wheel is stuck and the serpentine belt is just rubbing against it. However I am a total novice at this kind of stuff.
Does anyone have any Ideas on the problem/repair procedure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Your problem could be a loose oil pump, pump bracket, pulley nut or belt. It could also be a malfunctioning steering stopper, return hose, or gearbox. Their might even be interference between the pressure hose and some other part. Good luck.
