Default Horn Inop

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee SE, just bought it. It has no owners manual, no fuse diagram, the horn does not work, no power to the horn and I all the fuses appear to be fine. Is there anything I can do to get the factory horn working again. I bought a Haynes manual thinking the wiring diagram would be in there, no luck.

Is your airbag light on? Do you have cruise control, if so does it work?

Air bag light is not on. The cruise control works fine. Is there even a fuse for the horn or is it combined with something else?

To be honest, i'm not sure. My horn doesn't work, but my airbag light is on, and my cruise doesn't work either. I know that mine needs a clockspring. Was trying to see if maybe that was the problem with yours also, but it's not.

I'm betting it's the clock spring. The cruise control and horn worked on mine and the airbag light was on. Switched out the spring and the light went off.

mine was wrecked too and no horn or cruise even though its set up. Also when i use my remote to lock it the horn does actually work and from what i have read, seems like the clockspring?

Yes, if it's the clockspring, the horn itself will still work. Mine goes off when i lock the car also.

I thought the clockspring controlled all electronics in the steering wheel?

the clockspring is under the airbag. The air bag has to be deactivated first before removing. Disconnect battery and on top of the column is a cap. Remove the cap and turn the disarming screw out about an 1". There are four nuts on the front side of the steering wheel that holds the air bag in place.

On my '99 the horn (& horn alone) wouldn't work when pressed. Key fob would make it work as would power applied @the fuse box. Wiring to the column looked OK....

Turned out to be the switch which was integral to the airbag, got a used airbag from the JY-horn then worked.

Wow, double checked fuses again. Found a 40 Amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood that was blown. Horns are working. I'd still like to get a diagram or an old owner's manual somewhere.
