Default hood won't open completely

Just got a 90 XJ, it sat for years untouched, when trying to open hood, corners near windshield bind up, i don't want to force them fear bending the hood, also the hood won't completely either, But i suspect that is a hood release cable,
Any idea's would be helpful,
thx

Get some PB Blaster and start soaking the hinge area down with it.

Work it a little, soak it, work it a little more, soak it some more. It should eventually release.

Cowl panel is probably loose and lifted up, hitting the rear edges of the hood.

Default hood opening problems

The hood opens but it catches on the cowl, The hood opens about 10 inches , but that's it , I don't want to try the force the hood to open. I do know that the hood release cable is screwed.

Observe what's happening at teh area where the hood meets the cowl while someone cAREFULLY opens the hood with you guiding them when to stop. Chances are the cowl is sitting too high cuz screws are loose/missing.

Or the hood is too far back.

By the original posting, I had thought that his hinges were frozen.

Problem fixed with opening hood, some dim wit had the hood off before and put all the shims on one side of hood latch, now just get to fix hood release cable (it's broken too) LOL
