really depends on where its broken. If it broke from the lever then you should be able to use some pliers and grab it to pull. If it broke under the hood thats a whole other story. Check and see if you can get the gable inside the jeep first.

I've had this issue a couple of times. If the handle came off in your hand, pull the plastic cover over the puller and grab the cable with vice grips.

If the crossbar busted, or the cable broke up under the hood, ugh.... You've got to yank the grill to get at it.

Simply remove the headlights and the headlight buckets and undo the hood latches where they bolt to the body. Simple. Phillips screwdriver and I *think* a 13MM.. Had to do it at the local pick-n-pull a while back. Someone cut the hood cable on a pristine '92 XJ with low miles just to be a weenie.

Don't forget to replace your cable!

Could be like my 92 and the split rivets that hold the unlocking assembly under the hood busted, making the assembly move and not the latches.

You can either reach from under the jeep to the small rod between the pulleys and radiator and push it to what i think is the pass side, HARD. should pop it and if that doesnt work pull the headlight buckets and unbolt them from there

Quite a few guides on it if you do a little googling

Ok, so the lever inside the cab of my cherokee broke off when i pulled on it to open my hood, so i got behind the panel where it mounts, cut the cable off, stripped the plastic to the core and pulled as hard as i could to get the hood to pop and nothing happened. What could be the problem for me?
