hood won't open

You can access the hood latch through the headlight bucket.
"By removing the headlights and headlight mounting brackets, you can access the mounting bolts for the hood catches. One of the bolts was to the top right of the hole on the vertical panel and the other was above and to the right of the hole on the horizontal panel. Using a combination of sockets, extensions, and knuckles, the bolts can be removed. Once the catches are unmounted, the hood will open. (You can then manually release the catches and reinstall them)."

I got this Cherokee from my son. He helped get the hood up. The clip that keeps the cable from sliding into the latch is missing & then the cable goes inside the latch when you pull the release. There is just enough room to your fingers through the grill to pull on the cable & pop the hood open. Thanks for your help. I'm sure I'll have more problems.
