Default Hood stuck shut, not the cable.

It started that the cable broke, replaced it broke again, got the hood open and the bellcrank was stuck, so I hit it with a hammer it came un done now the latch rod has broke in 2. Now it it my DD I have to drive to work and whatnot so I had to close the hood. Now with no latch rod to release the latches, how do I open the hood again to replace the parts? I could probably figure this out but just seeing if there was a easy way since I'm still technically a noob..

Not much without destroying the fenders or hood. You might be able to reach up and under and activate the mechanism with a screwdriver or something. I had an issue with this when I was at a pull it yard. I used a hammer.

Pull the grille off, and see if you can acess the latch. Im not sure what year you have, but I my '95, I can remove the center grille section with a phillips screwdriver, and can see the latch.

Remove the headlight and headlight bucket on both sides. From there you can remove the nuts that hold the latch catch on either side and raise the hood.

Then remove all the latching nonsense and replace with hood pins. Done.
