Default Hole in my np242

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with an NP242. Replacing it I noticed a hole next to the link connection (Driver side) in between the transfer case housing and the front differential yoke. Not as clean as this okay has anyone seen this before. ? Did I lose a vent hose? Thanks for the responses in advance

Arizona Parts claims they have 7 of them

OEM part number 0015105.

I tried a few Mopar parts on-line stores using that part number and they don't list it, so I think the dealer won't recognize that part number either.

The part number comes out of several years of XJ pars catalogs.

AZ parts:

Note that the plug is 3/8" x .5". Before you get the actual part you may try getting a rubber plug from a hardware with those dimensions and install it with a bit of transmission fluid resistant RTV.

So the shop that I had do my flex plate replacement found that plug was missing and I was down to about a 1/2 quart of fluid. He tapped it for 1/8" pipe thread and put a pipe plug into it. No worries about some rubber plug falling out anymore.

Just another idea.

^^^ not a bad mod to tap it like that.... keeps it in...and can still unscrew it for the rare occasion you need to.
