I want to hoist up my jeep to install my new muffler where is the best place to position the hoist arms on a 2000 xj

i wouldnt lift it completly i would put a jack stand on the rear axle and the front axle just jack up one side off it ... just my reccomendation

I would put jackstands under the axles if you can. If your lifting with a shop hoist. Put the hoist arms under the unibody framerails. That is the area of metal between your front lower control arm frame mounts and your rear front leaf spring mounts.

unibody rails as described, do not use the pinch seam on the body!!!

i did my exhaust with the jeep sittin on all 4 tires.

Yep just like was said on the unibody rails in back of LCA mounts and in front of the leafspring mounts. After you get it a few inches up make sure to shake test it to make sure its secure

I dont have a pic of the front but heres how i lift the rear of mine

Yeah. Be really careful. See pics . Sorry for the quality. They were taken on my camera and I didn't realize how poor my lighting was in the shop.

You're right. It was still a bit cramped under there. We ended up lifting it another 2 ft or so. I wouldn't reef on a breaker bar under there, but we had all the air tools we needed so we backed out 13 year old bolts with the click of a button. Wasn't bad at all.

yeah even with a impact my bolts were frozen we had to use a 5 foot steel rod on the breaker bar to get em loose lol
