When this happened to me it wasn't to bad. The part that sucked is I had to weld nuts onto the bolts inside of the block so I could get them out. That was not fun. I would help, but I am nowhere near Oakland.

it's not normally hard, however if what i think has happened has indeed happened (as it did to me twice), the bolts have sheared off between the block and the mount. As a previous poster said, the best way to extract the remaining studs is to weld a bolt to the remaining studs to back them out.
Chiltons ain't gonna help you on this one - this is alllll backyard mechanic tricks now.
Unless you have a welder, and are confident that you won't damage the block, i'd let a shop fix this one for you.
Make sure the bolts get replaced with Grade 8 bolts this time.

ok. no severed bolt. drivers side is in tact and tight. passengers side rubber was toast but no busted bolts. i replaced the mount. you guys were right. pretty straight forward. tomorrow new rad is delivered. gonna test drive mount w old rad before i install new rad.
is there anything that i am missing? what else could possibly cause my fan clutch to eat my rad. wish me luck. thanks for the help. you guys rock.

Just to go over it again..Are you SURE your passanger motor mount is ok?..When this happened to mine the mount sheared off on the side where it attaches to the block so it's kind of hard to see sometimes. The actual mount will look fine since that doesnt break. When this happened the engine drops just a bit because the bottom of the motor mount comes to rest on top of the distributor housing so it seems solid.

a bad mount could cause it alone. if you have replaced the drivers side. and the t/case mount then the motor should be good. double check the mounts for the sake of it. make sure your engine is straight. with my 3 row radiator and after market fan clutch i had about 1/4" of space between my radiator and my clutch. thats not much. I don't know what your fan clutch is like but i cut off the tabs to get over a 1/2 inch gap...
Mine is like this one in the pic. I took some flat head pliers and grabbed the tab by the base and riped them off for the extra room. I actually could't even fit the clutch on the motor with the radiator in, i had to do this to fit it on. but also added space between the two. just an idea.... idk how tight it is for you....

Just for the hell of it, check you fan to make sure none of the fan blades are bent. Besides that I have no other ideas that jump to mind about what would make your fan eat the rad.
ok. so passenger side motor mount installed. new radiator installed. i have driven the jeep and stop and start hard. seems like i fixed it. hopefully. the dead rad came out of my OME lift fund.
problem: hit a pothole and because of my bad passenger motor mount my engine lurched and my fan clutch ate my rad. the fix: change motor mount and radiator.
