Default hit the jackpot!

ok. my son outgrew his 50 cc dirtbike. and my buddy sons wanted one. so i traded him the dirtbke for a sick sound system. 1000watt amp.. 4 12 inch subs and there all boxed in. and amp mounts in the middle of the four. but my question is. will my alternator run this? i know a new battery is needed. so im going to buy the "yellow" one from autozone. and if it doesnt . what alternator should i get?

You are running a 1000 watts to 4 12's? What is it a 4 channel? I'd find this out first and make sure you are running the right OHMs. That would be a max power of 250 watts per sub, which is not much at all per sub, kind of an odd setup IMO.

Anyway, yellow top batteries are good, along with a cap. You'll need a cap running that much power or your lights will dim. The cap will keep power to the amp without sucking it straight from the battery when it hits.

I'd also get the correct gauge wiring if you haven't, 4 gauge for 1000+ amps

Your alternator will be fine, heck your stock battery would be with the cap, but all that is up to you.

For example, I have a stock battery, 1200 watt amp, cap, 4 gauge wiring, 12" 1500 watt handling MA sub and have no issues.

Lets see some pics!

P.S. If you are flexing your springs a lot off roading with that heavy system in the back, the leafs will sag real quick, my jeep has an awful rake to it because of the system in the back, when I lift it I will have to go around .75" (shackles) higher in the rear to compensate, just so you know!

x2 on that old setup. you should eliminate two of those subs and get a 1000 watt 1 channel amp and bridge them.

With what you have at the moment, you can't get those 4 subs working...
A 1000 watts amp is not sufficient for that set up...
