Hit a bump on the highway and it shakes??
Hey guys i have a 93 XJ and was just wondering if any1 has ever heard of this problem,
Whenever im on the highway going about 55-65 if i hit a bump my steering wheel will shake uncontrollably to the point where i have to pull over to get it to stop. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this or any ideas as to what i could do to fix it? My jeep is bone stock with 205xxx miles but no other problems besides this shaking. Thanks in advance guys

I've got exactly the same problem,it only happened twice in about two years time.
It's a little bit scary driving around and you know in the back of your head it can happen at any time.(You don't want it to happen in a bend in the road on a comfortable speed,it scares the hell out of you.)
I've got a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2.7 CRD 2003 fitted with an Iron-man suspension.(Vehicle height is still factory standard)

Hi guys.
I wonder if anyone can help me?
My Grand Cherokee Laredo 2.7 CRD 2003 start up with the engine light on,as i start driving and i give it a bit of stick the light goes off.
As i drive on a open road it pulls normal,on a uphill it still pulls the same but as soon as i go downhill and i de-acellerate the light comes on again and then i start loosing power.
i can put the paddle down on th floorboard, but i can't get over about 60-70 kmh.(Then it smokes black as well)
Now the guys in South Africa seems to me can't solve the problem, every one got a different story and the dianostic tests doesn't say anything at all.
(1) Can it be voltage drop, because every thing depends on the computer box?
(2) Can it be gearbox?(It changes gears fine until the light comes on,then it doesn't kick back at all)

its called death wobble homie. I had it with my old 89 cherokee with 6.5in lift with 31x10.50 on 15x10 rims. replaced everything with the front end and it didnt go away. I have narrowed it down to this problem with my new one. Its all stock and when i put 15x12 rims on it it got death wobble. its mostly in the backspacing of the wheels i believe. i put some 15x8 rims on with more backspacing and it hasnt done it since

I just came across this exact problem with my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a very small lift on it and larger tires. I took it to a shop in which they eventually replaced both upper control arms, both lower control arms, and a few other things I forget what they called them. None of those "fixes" fixed my Jeep, it still had a violent death wobble hitting random bumps in the road. So after all that I myself replaced the track bar, tie rod, and sway bar link and poof... problem solved! So if you are experiencing the same problems, I would try replacing the track bar, tie rod, and sway bars first. Good luck.
