higher oil pressure at start up

higher oil pressure at start up
hey guys im new to jeep cherokees, i just bought a 95 zj larado with a 4.0.
my issue is when i start it, the oil pressure gauge goes off the gauge, and it never goes back down any. this cant be normal, i did a search, im thinking the oil pressure switch??? im goin to do an oil change later today and a tune up as well to get rid of my miss, and bad idle too.

Almost assuredly the oil pressure sending unit (also known as oil pressure switch). They ae a very common failure.
I recommend purchasing this directly from Jeep for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. Worth the extra $20.

I was haveing the same problem with mine awhile back,turned out to be the conection going to the sending unit,the wire was broken inside the connector/rubber boot.Relpaceing the end fixed the problem.
