Default Highbeam issue

Ok, after 2 months got both Jeeps back together. Gonna lube today and other odds and ends and finish up. Looked on the boards but couldn't find a specific thread for this problem. Wanted to pick your brains before I start checking every single wire in case you guys have experienced this and can say "Oh, just do this........."

I checked all light on both trucks and replaced what sockets and bulbs needed replacing. On the headlights, on mine, the passenger high beam doesn't work. On hers, the driver high beam doesn't work. Low beams work fine. Some of the headlights are new.

Any ideas???????

Well if it's not fuses, probably the sockets or wire near to them. All of the power to the headlights flows from a connector near the driver's headlight.

If you're working on the front lighting I strongly recommend either building your own or installing an aftermarket harness. The OE wiring is inadequate and fails with bright bulbs posing a pretty serious safety problem.

Well, I never checked fuses as I thought that if the low beams were working, then there was power to the bulbs. And since the other side was working both high and low, then it couldn't be a fuse issue.

I can't go the route right at this moment of changing the whole harness (future project), so I'm guessing my first choice is to remove the bulbs and change the sockets on the effected sides, and then if not that, then go for the harness. But to do the harness, I have to drop the whole front face panel piece.

Ok, read the added links that you sent about options for upgrading headlight wiring. The re-doing myself option is above my expertise even with the diagrams. The ones you buy already made, are they "plug and go", matching what's there, or do they need modification too? Looking at the pics, are they just for the headlights? I don't see small sockets for the smaller bulbs for the blinkers and parking lights. Also the one kit looks like it's for turning the bottom light into two lights, I guess you could just snip one of those off if you don't want to make that modification.

Oh, no, there are separate fuses for each one. Low beams and high beams are separate filaments inside the bulbs. Four fuses in total. I don't know what the fuse box for a '94 looks like otherwise I'd help ya out. If you have the owner's manual it should all be documented there.

The Putco harness is pretty much plug-n-play. You have to figure out a good spot to ground it and adding a fuse is strongly recommended, but that's straightforward. It's just for the headlights. Tons of threads on that unit here.
