High speed wobble after bumps @ 100km
Hello all,
I am a relatively new Jeep Cherokee owner. I must say that I am not a fanatic about them in the respect of modifications etc., but I do love my Jeep!
I have a 1996 Cherokee Sport with 240,000 km. I acquired this vehicle about 3 months ago now and have enjoyed every minute of it.
My concern is this:
While driving down the highway at 100-110 km/h, I have on 2 seperate occasions experienced an extremely scary speed wobble after hitting a dip in the road or a series of small potholes. I don't imagine this is normal behaviour for a normally solid little vehicle like this so I assume there must be something wrong in the suspension.
I think it may be located on the passenger side of the vehicle but as this is my first 4X4 I am unfamiliar with all the suspension parts and how they all work together.
I am hoping someone on here may point me in the right direction and save me the trouble of taking it to the garage to find out.
On a side note, my speedo also reads 10 km/h faster than the speed I am actually travelling. I know that the speedo gear is replaceable but was wondering if someone may know whether I need a gear with less teeth or more teeth to correct this problem.
Thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions given!

Ah yes, the dreaded 'death wobble'.
You are right, though, it's a worn bushing or tie-rod that's causing it. If you search 'Death Wobble' you'll get some more in-depth info.

Thanks CodeXJ for the speedy reply. I will do as you have suggested although after seeing "Death Wobble" I am really quite frightened!
The first time it happened I nearly dropped a load in my pants! I thought I was gonna flip right over!

Yeah it can be a bit disconcerting...

Personally I think Death Wobble is my way of my Jeep telling me it wants a lift.
