High Pitch noise
I appreciate any help on this one. My jeep is a 2000 Cherokee sport and I have a high pitch noise coming from front of it. It usually is loudest when decelerating or idle. Just picked this truck up and noticed this and want to get it fixed asap. Thanks for your help!

Does it change with engine speed? Get higher, louder, etc...
I've noticed that most of my high pitched whining sounds usually show up when my girlfriend starts talking while in the front seat. If this is the case for you, try moving her to the very back. Usually clears right up.
Edit: nevermind, totally didn't see you comment on that already.
Maybe your airbox is leaking or TB not seated properly? Unless you think it's coming from the front (underneath).

I think you're getting the same noise that I have coming from my '01 Classic. I've looked all over the place for the cause and can't find a thing...
Air box good, TB good, belt & pullys good, hoses all in good shape, no wierd leaks. I'm at a loss so I'll be watching this to see what others think. Or I'll just wait until something blows up!

Is it continuous or does it go away? If its continuous, check your water pump. There is a small port on the bottom that starts to leak antifreeze when its gone bad. Next try pulling off your serpentine belt and check out the pulleys making sure the bearings a good.

I had the same problem. It was the last bolt closest to the firewall on the intake that was lose just a hair. I would tighten all your intake bolts. It fixed my problem.

alternator ?
i had the same problem but it actually turned out to be a bad alternator--couldn't charge my battery and my truck wouldn't start one morning, if the problem keeps going it might be worth looking into before you need to be flatbedded

Cheapest thing to check first(other than a loose bolt) would be serpentine belt. Wont hurt to throw a new one on there and maybe solve your problem.
