High oil pressure causing leak
Having an issue on startup/driving after warmup. Oil pressure shows high then I get an oil leak from what appears to be the rear main, but then it stops after oil pressure reads normal. It wont even drip after it does its thing. Rear main? (replaced x1) Oil pan gasket? (x2 now) Oil pressure sending unit reading wrong? Something else?
I take extremely good care of my Jeep and give it whatever it needs so I'm stumped. It doesn't get driven hard or even wheeled as of last few years.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advanced

almost any oil leak will look like it is coming from the rear main seal area because of the light slant the engine has. I would try and degrease the oil filter side of the engine and let dry. Then look for leaks around the oil filter adapter to the block, the distributor base, and where the head seals to the block as well as the valve cover gasket, especially on the back side of the cover....in this engine oil is pumped up to the top of the head and then feeds down basically with no pressure, just gravity. hope this helps
