Hey, I have an 88 Laredo and my oil pressure runs pretty high (like almost maxed out). It especially happens when I don't drive the jeep for a while and when it warms up it eventually drops to 60? The last notch before it maxes out when driving but the middle when idling. My oil pan does leak, but would this be enough to cause my high oil pressure?

 

Did you figure out the problem? I have an 89 Wagoneer thats doing the same thing.

 

It might be the pressure sending switch in the block thats causing it. I think its located to the rear of the distributor. Thats where it is on my 98 anyway.

 

This is almost assuredly the oil pressure sending unit.

I recommend purchasing it directly from Jeep for the best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. Well worth the few extra bucks.
