After looking at the box of the fram xtend-guard filter i noticed it was intended for synthetic oil... Being all wally world had in stock i had assumed it was just a standard filter. I'm running a Pure1 filter now and the pressure is back to normal.

The oil level is between "add" and "safe" but i have a feeling that theres too much. Either that or the STP is messing with the pressure. Any thoughts?
Turning the engine over while the oil is draining will not help squeaze any more oil out of the engine, and you're doing more harm than good to the bearings by doing that. I'm really suprised some idiot didn't tell you to replace the oil pump because the pressure is higher after the oil change. Ok, new oil is thicker than old broken down oil. Thicker oil will have more resistance to flow through the tight clearances between the bearings and crank and cam journals, thuse causing the oil pressure to be higher. Oil pumps do NOT, I repeat, NOT make pressure. The oil pump only moves the oil from the sump throught the oil passages to feed the crank bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, lifters, and through the push rods to the rockers. The tight clearance of one and a half to three thousands of an inch between the bearings is what makes oil pressure. BTW, there is nothing wrong with your engine.

My Peep has 497000 pluss Km now and climbing, change the oil every 5 to 7 weeks (6000 km +/- 500 km) use penzoil, castrol, Qstate, valvoline 10W30, sometimes the HiMi type if on sale. I always use the base Fram brand filter and no filter problems. Based on pressure when driving and up to operating temp; always have about 5 to 10 psi better pressure when the oil is fresh. Drops to about 45psi when the oil is passed half life.
