High Idle on Start
Hey guys,
Its summer again so its time for the heep to start acting up...
When its above 75-ish degrees and i start the engine when its cold it starts and it revs up to about 2000-3000 rpms (depends. it stays mostly at 2000) and will stay at there until it gradually comes down after some time. Im not getting any check engine lights. She runs fine. I replaced the MAP, TPS, and IAC within the past year, but they are all from ebay so the quality of the sensors may be in question.
If it was a vaccume leak wouldnt it throw a code?

Are you sure that you are not starting my Cherokee instead of yours? Mine does the same thing. It starts at about 2200 and drops down after 5 or 6 seconds. TPS adjustment maybe?

you said u bought those sensors from ebay? were they brand new or used? when u put the tps on,make sure u hav it lined up with the grooves in the tb hole and when you screw it back on and connect the electical plug, start it and it will go up to like 3000 rpm, then slowly goes down to where its supposed to be,as in its self adjusting.

It does the described action on start-up. Problem is when it revs up on start, it stays around 2000 rpms for a while sometimes

Actually, I don't remember what fixed it. I replaced the tps again with one from autozone because the Chinese one crapped out and it hasn't happened yet this year and it's been in the 60-70s since early march.

Well I thought it was fixed... Today it stayed around 2500 RPM for almost a minute before it dropped to normal. It is taking a little longer to start than normal too. It turns over nice but if its not warm it can take it 5+ seconds to start.
