When I turn the high beams on, the low beams turn off. If I hold the stick forward(towards me), the high and low beams stay on resulting in the road being much brighter. Is it normal for the low beams to turn off once the high beams are on? If so, is there a way that i can have both turns on?
I have a 1991 jeep cherokee.

If you do a headlight harness (I recommend one regardless), you can add a diode between the high and low beam relay triggers so both kick on when you do the highbeams.

The existing headlight wiring is marginal. If you do anything to keep both on at the same time, you'll burn up the stock wiring or headlight switch in a hurry. Use an aftermarket headlight harness and you'll be fine with this mod.
