Default High Beams not working HELP!

Let me start by saying I've looked thru the forum and internet for any threads related to this issue.

I have new bulbs, replaced the multi switch, checked fuses, etc.

No high beams, and no flash either.

I checked connections with multimeter. No power going to high beam on the bulb plug.

Any ideas? I really don't want to take it in for this issue but it's got me stumped.

Not sure on the newer steering columns but i'll share what the issue was with mine.

There is a rod that runs down the column from lever to the high beam switch.. this is adjustable. Sometimes the rod falls out or the switch slides a bit where the unit is out of adjustment and you wont get the high's or flash.

I read about that rod, but I don't think it's on the newer XJ's with the multi position switch? At least I couldn't find one.

I really don't want to have to dig into the wiring harness, I'd think it should be all intact, at least by the way it looks.

Any other ideas?

Search the term "clockring".. not sure what it does when it goes bad but lots of guys seem to be replacing them in later models. It might be related to your issues?

Sorry i'm not more help

Another thing to note...I do not have the DRL Module, the plug is capped on the passenger fender side next to the power dist box. This shouldn't be causing the issue right?

What happens when you push the turn stalk forward?

When I push the stalk forward or when I pull it back to flash the headlights cut out. No low beams (obviously) and no high beams either.

I'm at a loss on where to check next...

I have had the XJ at the local 4x4 Jeep shop for a couple days and they haven't been able to figure out why the high beams aren't working either.

Any ideas on next step if they can't solve it?

Yep, no high beams or flash for high beams...no lights at all when you try to switch to high beams.

Ok, are fuses 3,4,5, & 16 all good and do you have 12v @ coming from the headlamp switch to the dimmer switch?

All fuses are good, I checked them...at least they aren't blown?

I replaced the multi-function switch but did not pull the headlamp switch...does that provide power to the multi-function switch?

Yes, do you have a copy of the FSM, page 8W-50-4, has the wiring diagram.

I do, I think I printed it off and it's in the XJ at the shop. I'm going to check with them tomorrow and see if they made any head way, otherwise I'll let them know to check that switch out.
