Default Hi-Lift Jacks - 48" or 60"

Need to buy one. Seems like the 48" would do in almost every situation I can imagine, and obviously easier to transport. I was looking at the differences between the all-cast and "extreme" models too, can't really find any differences that are really important? I would definitely like to be able to use it for winching if need be too.

48" will do just fine. There are some differnt things that come with the Extreme model. It has a different top, but the jack is the same. Not worth the extra money IMHO.

x2, I got mine at tractor supply for about $50..It was the hilift brand as well. They had a no label brand for $30 but I decided to spend the extra on the brand name. Works perfect. I had my neighbor weld a metal base for me to give it better stand when on dirt and sand.

go with the red all cast.
My friend has the stamped steel version and its all rusted and its hard to get it to drop with a load on it. My all cast is 8 years old and moves up and down like the day I got it. I live in NY with sand in the summer and salt in the winter. I know all to much about rust and the cast is defiantly the way to go. Every few months I spray all moving parts with brake cleaner the re-lube with aerosol white lithium grease.

If you buy the 48" one it might be a good idea to carry ratchet straps so you could put tension on axle so you dont max the jack out trying to change a tire on the trail. I have been there, not having limit straps sucks.

This is a 60" jacking up my xj, and it is on level ground. Luckily my shocks are 5" to short for me to even come close to maxing out my flex
