Hey guys got me a sputter in #1
so I just aquired a 94 cherokee the guy couldnt figure out what was wrong with it so I descided meh what the hay and took it on myself right 120K in miles was super happy.... BUT!!! #1 cylinder is sputtering so I buy a set of used injector cause id rather spend the money on those then going new till I figure out what is going on.... replace a few of the injectors I feel were bad. plug everything back in still the same thing.... I also replace the connector cause it looked bad and still the same thing.... I also walked to the rear of the jeep and feel the blow out from the exhaust and it is sputtering real bad....
I am assuming this is an electrical issue if you all have any idea on what to do next that would be awesome cause anything electrical I can do but it gonna take awhile cause then I got read.... lol the struggle is real...

How did you confirm that it is the #1 cylinder misfiring? Is there a check engine light that you pulled a code from? Always let any stored codes lead the way to your repair.
For any misfires, I approach them in this order:
1. Spark plugs. Use Champion copper plugs, gapped to .035
2. Spark plug wires. Replace them if there is ANY question!
3. Distributor cap. It's $10. Replace it
4. Fuel injectors. Swap the one from the misfiring cylinder to a different cylinder
5. Compression. Should be 120-150 with no more than a 30 psi variation between cylinders.
Good luck.....

Tune-up
My XJ started sputtering all of a sudden. At first at about 2,500 RPMs. I replaced all the plugs before I took it on a drive through the hills hoping that was the issue but to no avail. I got on a forum to research what others have done. One poster said he switched the ignition coil and that solved the problem. Well I decided to do a complete tune-up, so I went on to Advanced Auto Web and found these.

Bought them and my son-in-law installed them. One of the things he did find when he installed them was that the rotor was shot causing excess wear in the cap which was what probably caused the miss, but wow my XJ is now running like a champ!!!
