My 93 xj is starting but its sounding sputtery and sluggish and when i give it a lil gas it dies out. All the fuels are good idk what it is. It will start but when i give it a lil gas a couple times it will die. Any ideas???
Start small and keep it simple before diving too deep into your wallet.
Clean the throttle body and IAC.
Clean and tighten battery connections and grounds.
Check cap, rotor, plugs and wires.
Still goofy? Get the wallet ready.

I would definitely start with the fuel filter. It's only a couple of bucks and knowing how most vehicles are maintained it is the original. Even if it is the problem it's probably time for a new one anyway.

Maybe I'm in left field, but mine did that a week ago and it was the battery and alternator. Battery only had 10.6 v and the alt. was shot. Put the old battery box on it and drove it home. Check that first, hook up a jumper battery and see if the more volts gets it to run ok. Shocked the he## out of me cause I was lookin elsewhere for the prob.
When was the last time you did plugs and wires?
Have you done ANY diagnosing yourself? We cant do it for you...
When this happens try checking for fuel pressure. Actually hook up a gauge to the schroeder valve.
Also, pull a plug and check for GOOD spark. Not yellow or orange. Good, blue, snappy spark.
