Help It won't start.
I drove my 2001 cherokee to work this morning with no problem. In fact it has always started great. After work it will only crank but not start, also none of the gauges are working. The idiot lights work and all other things work fine. just no gauges and no start. Any ideas I'm at a lose.
Thanks
Mike

Sounds like it is time to purchase a new battery. That is the first thing i would assume with your problem. Pull it out and take it to autozone they will load test it for free.
Have you done any thing else. Jump it off... Will it start with a Jump if not. I would start checking to see if you got spark.

With it being a 2001 it can crank fine but not start, 99 and newer Jeeps require greater than 10.5 amps when cranking(TJ, and ZJ's are the same way) I'd say replace the battier and go from there..

further update
Well I've spent a good part of the day to no avail. I did find that if you leave the key on for about 20 sec. that the check engine light will come on and the odometer appears to read "no bus". Also code reader is only showing No Link.
As stated earlier the engine cranks over fine, just no gauges work and all the cluster lights do. It has to be a link somewhere between the gauges and starting. Maybe someone has had a similar problem. I could sure use some tips.
Thanks

Yeah your harness on the back of the guage cluster is going bad. You will have to pull the dash out a check your connection back there. That would definitly give you your no bus fault. This will be a PIA to get too but that is gonna be your problem.
I would say it is great that you can actually start and run the Cherokee most I have heard when they have a NO BUS fault they cant even start it. Get it fixed before it wont even crank anymore.
