help with u joint and axle

Default help with u joint and axle

let me start by saying im new here and thanks for any help in advance... ok guys here is what i got i took a 94 on trade and dont know much about it or cherokees really but i put a head gasket on it and its a good rig ive wheeled a couple of times but my cuz fell thru some ice in a hole the other night and broke a front axle and u joint trying to get out and ive looked and tried to find one but nothing i see looks like what i got and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what i got heres a few pics the thing that is throwing me off is that the axle has splines on the u joint side and looks like a pressed on yoke but like i said i dont know jeeps to good so any help would help lol and thanks guys

what is it your trying to figure out?

you have a dana 30 axle by the way if that helps.....

yup, all cherokees came with the dana30 front axle. yours is the smaller 260 joint.
i would just grab a complete passenger side shaft from the junkyard, the newer the better as the 97+ has the larger 297 joints, which are stronger than the smaller 260 joints.
if you need to grab a shaft from an earlier xj, grab one that has the abs tone ring. those also had the larger joint. don't worry about the tone ring, it won't be in the way.

tj shafts will also work, but stay away from yj and grand cherokee shafts.

Your in M-town?! I thought I was the only perso in that area with 35's before I moved. Either way.....

ok thanks knowing i have the smaller joints will help but what i was trying to figure out my axle has a pressed on end yoke and i cant find another axle like that i got it all pulled out last night and was wondering if anyone has seen these axles with the end yoke like this so i could find one.. that was my main question so a 97 will work if i grab the outer and inner here are some more pic

This is right. The 260x had a pressed on yoke.




You need the axle shafts out of a 1996-1999 XJ or TJ

since you need a new yoke check into ironrockoffroad for their 760x shafts upgrade if you had/have the 260x

this is whats on my end yoke SPICER 3312 and 43350 ... im on the hunt for 96 xj axle now and thanks i need to get back on the trails lol

grab and replace both sides, that way you will have the stronger joints and this won't happen to the other side again.
