Help with starter replacement
The original starter in my 89XJ 4l been getting slower over the years and today wouldn't spin up at all (but I poked the starter with a broom handle, and it started)
I'll take it apart for a cleaning but assuming it needs to be replaced, I'm a bit confused by the options. On EBay, new starters range in price from about $40 to over $300. Is it legitimate to think the $40 units are crap, and if so, what's a reasonable amount to expect to pay? Is there a specific manufacturer I should be looking for? Should I consider a rebuild and it will at least be OEM?
Thanks for any advice.

$40 ebay starter isnjust begging to leave you stranded somewhere. If you are not going oem, get one that is easy to warranty. Fairly certain advance auto parts has a lifetime warranty starter available.

Go to www.Advanceautoparts.com
Look up the starter for your Jeep.
Go through the check out process and use "TRT30" as a coupon code to get 30% off your order.
Then go pick it up. (Or ship to your house if you don't have a local AdvanceAuto.)
Bam, warranty.

Next thing:
Is there a separate starter relay on an 89, that is separate from the starter solenoid which is attached to the starter?
I'm trying to find my wiring diagram but no luck so far.
