Joshman post up some pics because I don't remember the shackles having any part that wasn't easily accessed.

The upper bolt of the shackles has a welded nut you can't access..As long as you don't hamer it it should come out without twisting the nut out..Use plenty of PB Blaster..Also this is based on a 91 XJ and I just assume they should be the on the earlier models..

I would recommend going outside right now and hitting all the bolts with some PB Blaster. It will make tomorrow a lot easier.

Blind hardware inside frame that cannot be gotten to by human means!! Be very careful and like several others have said LOTS OF PB!!! Really should have been doing it for a week or so, but hind sight is always 20/20. Good luck hope all goes well!

Yes! PB Blaster!! White can with red and black lettering and I think it has a yellow lighting bolt circle or something on it around the name, IDK, just ask, they will know what you are looking for. Good idea giving it a little time to soak!! Good luck brother! Peace out!!

Hey I remember but the reason I didn't was it came right out on mine. I soaked everything for several days before I tried to do the kit. Might have been up to a weeks worth of soaking twice a day until I got to do the lift. I did not have even one bolt that was a struggle except the axle sided bolt on my adjustable trackbar.
PB Blaster is great stuff. I always keep a can in my Jeep and one on my workbench too.

Stryker just posted up his troubles with this type of bolt on NAXJA...
His is a front leaf spring bolt...

But you get to do this one also...

LOTS AND LOTS of PB Blaster.. and a 30 dollar Mapp Gas and Oxygen plumbers torch work wonders with these.....

Do you have a sawzall? It might be wise to have one on hand. Those bolts are pretty famous for seizing to the metal sleeve inside the shackle bushing and it has to be cut off most times.

I soaked mine for a week before doing it and the bolt came loose very easily......BUT...it was seized to the bushing so i said screw it and tightened it back up. I only have a black n decker mini sawzall that's too small for the job.
