Default Help Oil leak from somewhere!!!!

89 xj 4.0 auto. So the other day I noticed a bad oil leak coming from the rear main seal area. Today I replaced the rear main seal and put a new one piece gasket on. I then drove around for a while and noticed it's still leaking, but it's def. not the rear main. The oil seams to be coming from the back of the engine up higher but it's not the valve cover either (new and dry as a bone). Is there anywhere else oil can come from????????? Thanks.

Just checked the distributor and oil sending unit and they are both dry. Could it be a freeze plug??? It almost looks like it's coming from the CPS??????? Is this possible???????????

freeze plug would be antifreeze, what about dip stick tube, not sure on the CPS,valve cover gasket is thats left but youchecked that. What about CCV or oil cap, head gasket.

It looks like its coming from the access plate for the CPS but I've never changed one so I'm not sure if there is oil in there or not??????

If it was a head gasket I would think anti-freeze would come out. Thanks for the help. Hopefully someone knows about the CPS.

Yea I checked all those common areas, I just can't figure this one out. I'm gonna clean the engine off then check again.

I replaced my cps and boy was that pita. There isn't any oil near the cps, I have leak too and it didn't even reach over there. The only gunk I had near my cps was mud. So no I don't think you cps is your problem.
