Default Help! no start

My car is a 98 cherokee 160,000 miles its my DD for the winter. I just started driving it again last week and have not had any issues. Today I drove around running errands came home and parked it. I couple hours later I go to start it and it turns over but will not start! My gauge cluster lights up fine, no check engine or any other lights. However my fuel gauge and volt gauge don't budge when I turn the key to acc or when I turn it over. It turns over strong and I know I have over half a tank. Why are these 2 gauges not getting power and why won't my engine start??? I popped the hood, nothing looks out of place, belt is fine. No smell of gas even though I have been cranking it over and over. I switched the fuel pump relay with the starter relay with no change. All the fuses in that fuse block on passenger side under the hood are fine. Is there another set of fuses relays I need to check? Please help.

Can you hear your fuel pump kicking on when you turn the ignition to on?

If so then I would check for spark.

Any codes?

Seems like in these cases if the pump is kicking on its the CPS or NSS from what I have seen.

There is a very high probability that your crankshaft position sensor has failed.

When they fail, you will not have spark and you will not have fuel going to the fuel injectors.

The failure can also inhibit the fuel and voltage gauges from working properly.

Sound familiar?

Replace your crank sensor. Buy it from Jeep for the best reliability/accuracy. There is no lack of threads with people having trouble with aftermarket crank sensors.

I will try this tomorrow, thank you! Is it normal for these to just go out with no previous signs or symptoms?

Hokay, got the new CPS and it started right up! Thanks dudes. Now I have a CEL my guess is I just have to reset it by disconnecting the battery, but she runs great. Also a pointer to others I used a 1/4" drive socket, extension and socket wrench because it is all smaller it allowed more room and made it pretty easy.
