Default Help! No power to the ignition

I've searched numerous threads and got many different results, wondering if someone might have some input. So here's my story...91 cherokee 200k auto 4.0 4X4, driving to work one morning lost all power. Turn the key, nothing..dome lights, headlights etc work. Later find that the ignition fuse under the hood wasn't getting power. Ran a toggle switch to the fuse from the battery, boom..starts right up. all the wires under the fuse panel look clean, no broken wires etc. my mechanic told me that the ignition fuse gets power from the ECU...changed that, nothing. Could it really be just an ignition switch or something stupid like that?? I'm without a vehicle, please help!!
