Hey guys im new to forum and just recently bought a 2000 sport with 86k onit with aw-4. As far as i know im the 3rd owner or i was told i was. I bought it off of a 17 year old kid and all he could really tell me was the battery was new and he converted it at 72k to 10w-30 synthetic and changed every 4k and when his dad bought it for him they had a mechanic come and check it out and it looked good. Im just going to assume everything needs new fluids.
As far as the tranny goes i have a new seal and filter on the way for when i drop the pan. Im going to use dex 3 for that and the transfer case.
As far the diffs go i still do not know if i have trac-loc and there is no tag on the rear axel. My question is what gear lube do i need to use and assuming im only wheeling lightly will i need to run sythetic or would 80-90 work fine if i dont have a trac loc.
Also does anywhere sale gaskets for the diff, because all i can find on it to drain them are rubber plugs and i dont want to pull the cover off and damage the gasket trying to get it off.
Any help would be awesome and appreciated and please feel free to correct me if im wrong with anything i mentioned above thanks.

Welcome to CF from Tj...For the rear I would pull off the cover and do an inspection to see if you have LS or Trac-lock if so then depending on what you have in there will depend on what you need. Limited Slip will need an additive and a locker could use 80-140w to quiet it down on turns. You can clean the cover and housing with a blade and just use RTV silicone to make a new one...Tj
