help me identify a part on intake

I have an 89 xj and just finished my header swap on the intake near the steering is this thermostat looking thing (that i have no clue what it is) is and it has 2 vacum ports on it I took the stock air cleaner box out and put a cone filter on it and did away. With what I needed 2 my question is do I need to hook this thing up somewhere or can I just plug it off and go with it its strictly off road vehicle will post pic of mysteruous part thanks for looking

I don't think its the fuel pressure regulator this part is bolted to the intake inbetween the top and bottom on the side where the steering shaft is it had some type of plastic round thing with vaccum lines hooked up to it I actually think its one of the lines from the stock air cleaner box and the other I don't know the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail with the injectors correct

i have an 88" xj and the intake I bought used the stock rubber elbow, at first I thought u were talking about that pointless tube that ran from the front of the stock air box to the bottom side of the engine
